    Gufidaun/Gudon is a true traditional South Tyrolean village in the middle of nature: quiet, sunny and relaxing. At the same time, you can be in the valley and on the highway in just a few minutes, so you can travel flexibly and comfortably.

    The place relates to a history of over 4,000 years. Gufidaun/Gudon was once the seat of the court and the nobility. Historic buildings such as the “Hohes Haus”, the Koburg and Sommersberg castles, the Turmwirt and the village museum invite you to immerse yourself in the past and experience culture up close. The modern Gufiwalk-themed Owl Trail, circular trail , leads through the village, past castles, the village church, beautiful viewpoints and the nature area around Gufidaun/Gudon – and tells the story of the village in an exciting way.

    The alpine town of Klausen/Chiusa is about 2.5 kilometers from the Marialisa Apartments and is easily accessible by public transport or as part of a hike (about 30 minutes on foot). The artists’ town of Klausen/Chiusa is dominated by the imposing “Säbener Klosterberg”. In the past, the place was the seat of a bishop, but today the Sabiona Monastery is a popular destination for believers and all those who wish to enjoy the special atmosphere and beauty of the surroundings.

    Klausen/Chiusa is particularly popular for its picturesque old town. It is known throughout Italy and beyond it is one of the “Most beautiful villages in Italy”, that is, one of the most beautiful ancient centers in Italy. Winding alleys, medieval facades and lovingly maintained buildings give the city its unique charm.

    You should definitely plan a visit to the city museum during your holiday in Klausen/Chiusa. A special highlight is the famous Treasury of Loreto, which has been open to the public since 1992. It is a vast collection of precious works of art that were once in the possession of Maria Anna, the Queen of Spain.

    A weekly farmers’ market is held in Klausen/Chiusa and in the old town you will discover many great restaurants, cafes and shops – perfect for a quiet stroll during your holiday in the Eisack Valley.
